UniProtKB description: Secreted effector that interferes with vesicular trafficking of host cells. Possesses glucohydrolase and mono-O-glucosyltransferase activity by using UDP-glucose as a sugar donor substrate. Is able to glucosylate histones H4 and H3.1 in vitro, but it is unlikely that histones are the natural substrates for SetA. May glycosylate a component of the host cell vesicle trafficking machinery during L.pneumophila infection. Binds with high specificity to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns(3)P), (with a dissociation constant value of 809 nM), which guides SetA to the cytosolic leaflet of the early phagosome of the host cell.
