UniProtKB description:  Catalyzes the conversion of L-ornithine and 2-oxoglutarate to L-glutamate semialdehyde and L-glutamate (PubMed:35337912). L-ornithine is the best substrate, but the enzyme also shows good activity toward L-lysine, and low activity toward D-ornithine, D-lysine, 5-aminovalerate, 6-aminohexanoate and GABA (PubMed:35337912). The enzyme activity is specific for 2-oxoglutarate (PubMed:35337912).
