The transmembrane protein Patched Swiss:P18502 is a receptor for the morphogenic Sonic Hedgehog. This protein associates with the smoothened protein (SMO) to transduce hedgehog signals. These proteins consist of twelve transmembrane segments and two extracellular domains (ECDs) [1,2]. This entry represents the Sterol-sensing domain (SSD) formed by some of the TM segments. This domain may play a role in the transport and/or regulation of the SMO ligand [2].
