This family consists of meleagrin and cygnin basic peptides that are isolated from turkey and black swan respectively. Both peptides are low in molecular weight and contains three disulphide bonds with high concentrations of aromatic residues. These peptides show similarity to transferrins and probably play some vital role in avian eggs but the exact function is still unknown [1].
