UniProtKB description:  Confers resistance to the different beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillin, cephalosporin and carbapenem) via the hydrolysis of the beta-lactam ring (PubMed:20974864, PubMed:32205343). Exhibits higher catalytic efficiency toward ticarcillin and piperacillin than blaIMP-1 (PubMed:20974864). Exhibits catalytic activity for carbapenem compounds, but has a preference for imipenem and ertapenem over meropenem (PubMed:20974864). Has high efficiency for the hydrolysis of cefuroxime (PubMed:20974864). Exhibits hydrolysis of all cephalosporins tested (PubMed:20974864). Exhibits no hydrolysis of temocillin, the 6-alpha-methoxy semisynthetic derivative of ticarcillin (PubMed:20974864).
