UniProtKB description: Key component of the 4EHP-GYF2 complex, a multiprotein complex that acts as a repressor of translation initiation (PubMed:31114929). In the 4EHP-GYF2 complex, promotes translational repression and decay of mRNA targets by recruiting and bridging the association of the 4EHP complex with decapping effector proteins, such as me31B and Patr-1, and the deadenylation CCR4-NOT complex (PubMed:31114929). Involved in regulating starvation-induced, developmental and physiological autophagy, which is critical for eliminating ubiquitinated proteins and dysfunctional organelles in order to maintain tissue homeostasis (PubMed:26086452).
