UniProtKB description:  Together with the minus end-directed microtubule motor KAR3, plays a role in microtubule organization (PubMed:25313961, PubMed:17382884, PubMed:22734002). Recruits KAR3 to microtubules, and together they may stabilize the polymers (PubMed:25313961, PubMed:17382884). The KAR3-VIK1 heterodimer cross-links anti-parallel microtubules (PubMed:22734002, PubMed:17382884). Targets and/or maintains KAR3 at the spindle pole body during vegetative growth (PubMed:10087265, PubMed:11729143).
