UniProtKB description:  Antimicrobial peptide with moderate activity on Gram-positive (S.mutans, and S.aureus), and Gram-negative bacteria (S.enterica), as well as on fungi (C.albicans, C.glabrata, and C.neoformans) (PubMed:27104500). Also acts as a mast cell degranulating peptide (PubMed:540363). Its mast cell degranulation activity may be related to the activation of G-protein coupled receptors in mast cells as well as interaction with other proteins located in cell endosomal membranes in the mast cells (By similarity). Activates G proteins that couple to phospholipase C (Probable). Does not cause hemolysis to human erythrocytes (PubMed:27104500). Decreases the proliferation and viability of human leukemia HL60 cells (PubMed:1322833). Has a membranolytic activity on human glioblastoma multiforme cells (brain tumor cells) that leads to cell necrosis (PubMed:28965321). Decreases the proliferation and viability of human leukemia HL60 cells (PubMed:1322833).
