Cryo-EM structure of Staphylococcus aureus bacteriophage phi812 baseplate in the pre-contraction state - core, wedge module, and proximal tail proteins
This entry represents the tail tube protein of bacteriophage phi812 and related proteins. Phi812 is a bacteriophage that infects Staphylococcus aureus, including many methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA). The tail tube protein of phi812 adopts an eig ...
This entry represents the tail tube protein of bacteriophage phi812 and related proteins. Phi812 is a bacteriophage that infects Staphylococcus aureus, including many methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA). The tail tube protein of phi812 adopts an eight-stranded beta-barrel fold with a protruding stacking loop, characteristic for tail tube proteins of long-tailed phages. In a native tail, the phi812 tail sheath proteins interact with tail tube proteins and mediate substantial contacts between tail sheath proteins.
The P2 bacteriophage J protein lies at the edge of the baseplate. This family also includes a number of bacterial homologues, which are thought to have been horizontally transferred. This entry represents a six stranded beta barrel domain found in va ...
The P2 bacteriophage J protein lies at the edge of the baseplate. This family also includes a number of bacterial homologues, which are thought to have been horizontally transferred. This entry represents a six stranded beta barrel domain found in various baseplate J-like proteins.
