In the crystal structure of chicken Ten2, the ABD comprises approximately 120 residues and is positioned immediately downstream of the shell exit site. Structural homology analyses reveal similarities between the ABD of chicken Ten2 and antibiotic-binding proteins found in bacteria. These bacterial proteins confer resistance to antibiotics by sequestering them, thereby preventing their activation by oxygen. The ABD of teneurins wraps around a long helix that leads into the most C-terminal domain, known as the ToxGHH domain.
