Type III flagellar switch regulator (C-ring) FliN C-term
This family includes the C-terminal region of flagellar motor switch proteins FliN and FliM. It is associated with family FliM, Pfam:PF02154 and family FliN_N Pfam:PF16973.

This entry represents a domain found central in Surface presentation of antigens protein SpaO from Salmonella typhimurium and related proteins. SpaO is involved in a secretory pathway responsible for the surface presentation of determinants needed for the entry of Salmonella species into mammalian cells [1,2]. This domain is homologues to FliM/N C-terminal domain (Pfam:PF01052) and has probably originated via duplication event. SpaO contains two of these domains toward the C terminus that swap in a similar fashion as the FliM and FliN C-terminal domains.
