UniProtKB description:  In the presence of tetrahydrofolate, catalyzes the oxidative demethylation of sarcosine to yield glycine, 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate and hydrogen peroxide (PubMed:20675294). In the absence of tetrahydrofolate, catalyzes the oxidative demethylation of sarcosine to yield glycine, formaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide (PubMed:7240129, PubMed:17395614, PubMed:20675294). Can also use N-methyl-L-alanine and N-ethyl-L-glycine (PubMed:7240129). Is very specific for oxygen as an acceptor (PubMed:7240129).
