If you are having any difficulties using the website, the best way to get started is to spend a few minutes browsing the information in the help system.
There are several ways to access the help system throughout the website:
Click on the question
mark icon .
Select the "Help" link in the upper left corner of the main page.
In the menu there links to context-sensitive help.
Once you are in the help system, the left hand menu offers several folders

that can be expanded to find more specific information. Click
on any item with the 
icon
to display the topic.
For example, the Search the Database and Browse the Database folders are expanded here.
In the Search the Database section, you will find an introduction to searching, descriptions of each type of search interface, as well as examples of possible searches.
In the Browse the Database section, you will find an introduction to browsing and sections explaining each type of browser.
Other sections describe and offer assistance on all of the other areas you will encounter on the website. Links within topics will direct you to related information.
For help with results pages, look at the sections on the Query Results Browser and Structure Explorer.
NOTE: There is a flash and HTML version of this help system. The PDB server should automatically detect if your browser supports FLASH. If your browser supports flash this will be the navigation interface, otherwise HTML will be used.
