Senior Scientist (UCSD)

Help define the future of the RCSB Protein Data Bank (www.rcsb.org) as a Senior Scientist. With over 300,000 unique users per month from over 160 countries around the world, the RCSB PDB is one of the worldwide leading Biological Databases. As Senior Scientist you will be able to demonstrate your abilities at both new scientific methods development and software engineering.

As part of our agile team of scientists and software developers you will provide senior-level expertise and leadership in enhancing the RCSB PDB website and Web Services. You will develop innovative approaches that will satisfy users' current needs and anticipate future needs based on progress in the science of structural biology and structural bioinformatics. As a domain expert in structural and computational biology, you conduct research, solve scientific problems, develop novel scientific applications, answer user requests, and participate in our outreach efforts. You will help translate new and emergent requirements for the website into actionable strategic plans as well as aid in selecting the best technologies and architectures for the RCSB PDB site. You will be a part of, and help sustain, the RCSB PDB's established history of bringing high quality information in a reliable and dependable way to our large user community.

Senior Java Web Developer (UCSD)

The RCSB PDB at UC San Diego has an opening for a Senior Java Web Developer to provide senior-level expertise and leadership in enhancing the RCSB PDB website, data access layer, and data warehouse. The successful candidate will help set standards for project management and software engineering practices and ensure cutting-edge web development and database design and architectures are employed. This person will be a part of, and help sustain, the RCSB PDB's established history of bringing high quality information in a reliable and dependable way to our large user community.

Web Application Developer (Rutgers)

The Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics at Rutgers University is seeking applications for a web application developer.

This successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining high performance scalable database-driven web applications and project intranet web sites. This includes the design, code development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation preparation to satisfy project requirements. This candidate is also responsible for analyzing existing application design, and code to improve quality, mitigate issues and improve performance and functionality.

Scientific Application Programmer (Rutgers)

The Protein Data Bank (RCSB PDB) project at Rutgers University has a position open for a scientific application programmer with experience in computational biology or chemistry, or structural bioinformatics. The incumbent will work with the staff at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, to design, produce and maintain new data processing and annotation tools for macromolecular structure data.

The position requires: Minimum of Bachelor's degree, higher degree preferred, in Computational Biology or related discipline; some further experience in bioinformatics, structural-biology, biology, and/or chemistry; proficiency in programming languages Java, C++,and Python. Demonstrated experience with the following is highly desirable: design and development of large software application systems; webuser interface development using Java, Javascript and AJAX; web service development using SOAP and REST; database application development using JDBC and MySQL. The position holder should be able collaborate with broad, multidisciplinary teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
