Principal Investigator in Protein Crystallography

Van Andel Institute

Crystallographer

Van Andel Research Institute, an independent organization dedicated to becoming one of the
world's pre-eminent private medical research institutes by building on the extraordinary
discoveries in molecular biology and genetics, is inviting applications for two Principal
Investigators in Protein Crystallography.

Candidates should be interested in establishing an independent research program. The structural
biology component will complement and enhance the existing and planned multi-disciplinary effort
in cancer biology. Qualified candidates with experience in protein crystallography, especially
those with an interest in cancer research, should consider this unique opportunity in the newly
created institute. The Michigan Life Sciences Corridor has recently funded a Center for Structural
Biology, a consortium comprised of the major Michigan universities and VARI to emphasize
structural biology in the development of a Michigan-wide effort. Among the anticipated benefits
will be preferential access to a regional beamline at the Argonne National Laboratory as well as
strong ties to structural biologists at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and
Wayne State University. New space, generous start-up funds, and resources for a five-year
commitment are part of the package.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals with:
*	a Ph.D.
*	at least three years of postdoctoral experience in protein crystallography
*	a proven record of accomplishments

Visit www.vai.org to learn more about the Institute. To apply, send a letter describing your
research interests, your curriculum vitae, together with the names and addresses of three
