The structure of the human cGAS apo form was determined by molecular replacement, using the structure of the mouse cGAS-dsDNA complex (PDB ID 4K96) as the search model.

The structure was solved by the molecular replacement method with the MOLREP program [ 22 ], using the complex structure of mouse cGAS with DNA (PDB ID 4K96) [ 19 ] as the search model.
