This alignment was used to generate 10 models based on the A. aeolicus TatC crystal structure (PDB: 4B4A  ), using the MODELLER program  .
The models shown in all panels were built using the Aquifex aeolicus TatC structure pdb file (4B4A)  as described in the Methods section.
A recent high resolution X-ray diffraction crystal structure has been determined for Aquifex aeolicus TatC (4B4A)  , and provides insight towards mechanisms and confirms that TatC spans the membrane as a six transmembrane α-helix protein  .
