Indeed, the single X-ray structure where CSL is bound to a DNA motif with cytosine in position 1 (PDB ID 3IAG, -CGTGTGAA-, (44)) shows such a bidentate interaction between the glutamine and guanine, c... nfirming that this contact occurs.
Firstly, using the structure of mouse CSL bound to a slightly different DNA sequence CGTGTGAA (PDB ID: 3IAG) ( 44 ), we found a similar preference for cytosine in position 1 (Supplementary Table S5).
