The reference (dark) data were brought to the absolute scale by scaling them to structure factor amplitudes calculated from the PYP model 2phy from the Protein Data Bank (Berman et al. , 2000 ▶... ).

The atomic model displayed is that of the reference (dark) state (PDB 2phy structure) with the HC4-chromophore in its trans configuration.
