Twelve conserved hydration sites were identified in m AChE by manual inspection of water molecules present in 18 crystal structures available from the RCSB protein data bank  (pdb entry codes: 1KU... , 1N5M, 1Q84, 2GYU, 2GYV, 2GYW, 2H9Y, 2HA0, 2HA2, 2HA3, 2HA4, 2JEZ, 2JF0, 2JGE, 2JGL, 2WHR, 3DL4 and 3DL7) and the structures determined herein.

Structural superimposition of this complex with the Fas2-mAChE (accession code 1KU6 [ 13 ]), BW284C51-TcAChE (1E3Q [ 21 ]), decamethonium-TcAChE (1ACL [ 20 ]), propidium-mAChE (1N5R [ 15 ]), and ACh-m... ChE (Ser203Ala mutant) complexes (2HA4 [ 7 ]), based on the respective AChE subunits, used COOT (root mean square deviation values, 0.89-0.98 Å for 521-526 Cα atoms).
