In agreement with earlier bioinformatic predictions ( 7 ) the first 104 amino-acids of the HerA protein form a six-stranded β-barrel domain (absent from the VirB4 protomer; Supplementary Fig. ... B ), which bears clear similarity to the β-barrel fold seen at the N-terminus of the bovine F 1 -ATP synthase ( 26 ), PDB id 1BMF).
